Romans

1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: 2 By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand , and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. 3 And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; 4 And patience, experience; and experience, hope: 5 And hope maketh not ashamed ; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us. 6 For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. 7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die : yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die . 8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. 9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. 10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled , we shall be saved by his life. 11 And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement. 12 Wherefore , as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned : 13 (For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law. 14 Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam’s transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come . 15 But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead , much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many. 16 And not as it was by one that sinned , so is the gift: for the judgment was by one to condemnation, but the free gift is of many offences unto justification. 17 For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.) 18 Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life. 19 For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous. 20 Moreover the law entered , that the offence might abound . But where sin abounded , grace did much more abound : 21 That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.

  1. Now for the break down:
1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
~We are only justified by (or right with God) by our faith in Christ. There is nothing additional, nothing we can do, nothing we we can say,our justification is by our faith in Christ.

2 By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand , and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
~It is through our faith that we receive Grace, and rejoice in the hope and the glory of God. What is faith? Simple its the belief in something you are not able to see. Air is a good example of faith. We have faith that there is air. We cant see it, we cant touch it, we cant hear it. But we know its there….by faith. Gravity is another thing we have faith in. The chair you may be sitting in while reading this blog, I would guess that you did not think about it at all before sitting in it. Though gravity pulls us down to the ground you had faith that chair would stop you between the cushion and the ground. We all have faith. But its our faith in Christ that gives us the Grace that God gives us freely. What is grace? Grace is the unmerited forgiveness that God provided when he sent his son to die for our sins. We didnt ask him to do so, we did not see it happen, we did not hammer the nails that pierced his skin. Not literally! We did however figuratively every-time we sin. Each time we choose the wrong path, its like we are personally grabbing that hammer and nail, holding his hands and feet down and *WHACK* God chose to do it anyway. That is grace. What hope do we have? As a Christian we have the hope that this life is not the end. There is something else, there is a new home (heaven) a new house ( a mansion) a new body (because this one is no good), a new life, one with Christ himself!

    3 And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience;
~When we have faith we can glory in tribulations (troubles), we know that when we have troubles in our lives that God is working on you. He is working patience with each lesson he allows us to go through. He makes me stronger every-time he chooses to let the temptation come.

4 And patience, experience; and experience, hope:
~ With that patience we will gain experience, with that experience we will learn to focus on the hope that There is something better coming!

5 And hope maketh not ashamed ; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.
~Hope shows our faith and our faith is what brings us closer to God. The love of God is shown to us by the gift of the Holy Spirit. The only way the Holy Spirit can show us this love by trusting in Christ for our personal savior.

6 For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.
~When we could not do it, Christ died for you. We are unable to live a perfect life, yet it took a man to live a perfect life in order to pay the sin debt. Christ was the only one that walked this earth and never faltered. Never changed his story but preached repentance and forgiveness.

7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die : yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die .
~ It is hard to think of a man giving his life for an ol’ rotten sinner like me, but Christ died for me! He died for you too!

8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
~Great verse and one that is along the Romans Road. God commended (gave) his love towards us (to ME) that while we were yet sinners (while we were sinners, doing things wrong), Christ died for us! Think of this a better way insert your personal name here!

9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.
~We are not only justified or made right by Christ blood that was spilled on the rugged cross of Calvary but because he chose to shed that blood he gave us a way to be reconciled to God.

10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled , we shall be saved by his life.
~Just like when we did not see eye to eye with God before salvation, much more is it to simply saved by his gift on that cross.

11 And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.
~The atonement or payment for sin was purchased when Christ died on that cross for our sins.

12 Wherefore , as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned :
~Where by one man sin entered into the world. This was by Adam, and death by sin. The wages or earnings of or for sin is simply stated DEATH! That is what we have earned. Nothing else. But God so gracefully and patiently forgives us our sins and cleanses us from all unrighteousness.

13 (For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law.
~There is no payment needed when there was no law, yet man ask for the law because they did not want to know sin. There was no law so there was no sin. Yet God knew we were a deceitful people.

14 Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam’s transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come .
~Sin abounded in all before the law was even established. The sacrifice of animals in the Old Testament was a figurative sacrifice of the death to come on the cross.

15 But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead , much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many.
~Christ on the cross was not meant to be an offence as some would say, but a gift the gift that keeps on given if you will, the gift that gives us eternal life. For our offenses or sins we deserve death, but because the cross we are forgiven. If we believe and accept the gift he has given us!

16 And not as it was by one that sinned , so is the gift: for the judgment was by one to condemnation, but the free gift is of many offences unto justification.
~The gift is to cover the one that is sinned, he did not die on the cross for his transgression but ours. You might even say for mine!

~Tying 17 and 18 together By one mans sin death was the payment. When we sin we have earned the wage of death. But because of the one innocent mans death all can be free. If we only believe and turn from our wicked ways.

19 For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.
~By one mans sin (Adam’s) death came to all; but by one mans obedience to the cross all may go free.

20 Moreover the law entered , that the offence might abound . But where sin abounded , grace did much more abound :
~Where the law entered we seen our sin. We know it is a sin, it is against God’s laws. Yet when we accept Christ as our personal savior God says where our sin abounds the grace of the forgiveness abounds much more. There is not enough sin to cover the blood. The blood always covers our sins!

21 That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.
~Grace will reign if we will only accept Christ and his gift on the cross.
